Mawlud Faal, the Commissioner of Drug Law Enforcement Agency in the West Coast Region has disclosed that 200kg of cannabis and some quantities of cocaine have been confiscated this year alone.
Commissioner Faal made this disclosure Monday during a press briefing.
He revealed a particularly interesting case on 31 August when the Navy police attached at the Bintang River crossing point tried to stop a suspicious boat whose occupants eventually fled, leaving behind 4 huge bags filled with bundles of cannabis. He also narrated another case in Brikama as recent as 24th of September when officers found 22 bundles of suspected cannabis in the booth of a vehicle whose lone drive has since been arrested. He said similar arrests were made in Kalagi, Brusubi and Sanyang.
Commissioner Faal thanked the police for their hard work and collaboration in the fight against drugs.
