The Youth Empowerment Project recently graduated 25 young people after they completed a Training of Trainers (ToT) course on packaging.
Supported by the International Trade Centre, (ITC) the program which ran from the 24 to 28 September 2018, ended at the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Bijilo.
Frederic Couty, a trainer, said the participants benefitted from various advance trainings in the areas of packaging functions, packaging materials, packaging machinery, packaging processes, labelling and traceability, designs and transportation.
Raimund Moses, project manager, said the project was here to empower youths by unlocking potentials to create wealth.
“Many youth entrepreneurs have already identified packaging as a key issue to access markets and influence the purchasing decision of customers thus giving local entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete foreign markets,” he said.
Alieu Secka, GCCI CEO, urged participants to make best use of knowledge gained.
Other speakers included Gheran Senghore, communications officer Yep and Assan Gaye, from the ministry of trade.
