The Confederation of African Football Caf has slapped the Gambia with a fine of 2500 Dollars for late withdrawal from the Under 23 Championship, a source in Cairo told The Standard.
The Gambia withdrew from the championship qualifiers last week just little over month before the first leg kick off against Libya on November 12. The Gambian football authorities say they have no money to fund the qualifiers arguing they are already over burdened with the national team and other important responsibilities that they are implementing with no support from the government. However Caf was disappointed that after going extra mile to admit Gambia in the last minute the country has decided to pull out.
