The Gambia Ocean Heroes will hold its second beach clean-up exercise this Saturday, 8 December 2018 at Lemon Creek/Sea Front Hotel from 9:00am.
The exercise is designed to help in changing the mindset of the people with regard to pollution and the environment.
The Gambia Ocean Heroes Project are a group of volunteers in the Gambia who have direct and indirect concerns about the growing level of pollution along the Atlantic Ocean and the River Gambia which are polluted with a wide variety of marine debris, ranging from plastics to derelict fishing gear and litter from weekend beach parties.
A statement from the group urges all Gambians to participate in the exercise saying that without supporting the anti plastic and anti littering bans, our biological system will be interrupted from the seafood we consume.
The Gambia Ocean Heroes Project is organized by the GREAT Institute, a research center for marine science, environmental issues, and climate change etc. For more information, contact us at +220 244 7328 or info@greatinstitute.org.
