Scorpions coach Tom Sainfiet said yesterday that he has full confidence in the 21-man squad he invited to take on Togo twice within a week starting next week.
”I am confident we can score goals and earn points. And if we can come home with a point, we will celebrate because Benin and Algeria will drop points,” he opined.
Asked how prepared is he, Saintfiet said his technical team may decide to call up some other names because ”we don’t know what will happen in Togo in terms of injury, so we will have a group on standby”.
Sainfiet further disclosed that though 21 players have been called, he will travel with 20 for the away leg in Togo. ”The players that are not in this list have not been exempted and selection is not against them but we are building this game from among the players invited here, ‘ he clarified
The coach said the GFF has helped them tremendously in meeting up their needs as they prepare for this important assignment. “So I am very satisfied with the GFF’s support and coordination in this match. They have helped and continue to provide us with all necessary logistics. I think this is the best planning I can have, ‘ he concluded.
