This exercise in internal party democracy is mandated both by the constitution of the party and the electoral laws of The Gambia. The process augurs well for the health of our new-found democracy. Therefore, it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for the party to see the grassroots fully mobilized and engaged in the internal strengthening of the party at all levels. UDP continues to grow from strength to strength attracting new members from across the political spectrum.
The Party takes this opportunity to commend and thank all Yayi Compins, Youth Mobilisers, volunteers and it’s National Assembly Members for effectively mobilizing the party cadres and stalwarts at all levels. The UDP expresses its profound thanks and appreciation to the outgoing executives who have faithfully served the cause of the party and positively contributed in strengthening it in the past two years. In the same vein the UDP wishes to especially commend the Inspector General Police and his team throughout the country, particularly in Brikama for ensuring those UDP congresses were held in an atmosphere of peace and good order. The Gambia Police Force has demonstrated professionalism and independence in the execution of their duties by ensuring that members of the UDP carry out the obligation imposed on them by the party constitution and the election laws. Finally, the party urges all the newly elected leaders to work in the interest of the party and people who elected them and to focus at all times on fostering party unity.
